"The swan song" is a collective project to pay homage to analogic photography. It began with a little personal exhibition in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain, on May 2008, and the opening of this Flickr group and this blog site.

The project consists in collecting photographs from the beginning or the end of a 35 mm roll, where there is a visible cut and burn from the end of the roll: "being this what makes them unique, unfinished fragments that keep within themselves the thin red line between the existence and the void."

Those photographs, once worthless and forced to oblivion, become now -as two centuries of history agonize- priceless treasures, incomplete fragments of memory which, as analog photography itself, fight for not to vanish forever.


The aim is that the project may grow up to complete a huge collection of photographic "swan songs". The final purpose is to be able to publish a book or to launch a huge exhibition project with all the contributions.

If you want to take part in the project, there are some ways:

1- If your photo has been selected in my DeviantART collection, please MAKE ME KNOW THAT YOU WANT TO TAKE PART ON THE SWAN SONG PROJECT and give me the data referring to the place, the date, the camera and the film the pic was taken with, and I'd also prefer that you give me your real name to credit you. I will feature your pic in the project's blog, and if the book story goes ahead, I will ask you your permission again to publish your picture on it.

2 - If you run a Flickr account, you can also join the project's Flickr group and add your photos to it. I feed the blog from there so far.

3 - If you found my DeviantART collection and your picture is not on it, just let me know. It's not so easy to find these jewels on the ciberspace.
